Cursors: the white set

Posted by ruphy at 12:36 on the 22 of July, 2007 — Categories: KDE, Oxygen.

So, in really few words, this is the white set, I removed the double arrows because as I already told you I didn’t like them very much, and they’re are already gone.
Nuno and Ken forced me to make the tail thinner, but I’m not totally convinced… I will release for sure a version with ticker tails, for those who liked them. And I must say that git really rocks for that kind of works! =)

They look much more professional indeed. Let me know of what you think. =)

    It looks o.k. but it is not realy new. I use this theme for a long time and think that it looks great. http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Chameleon+Xcursors?content=38459

    Well, I do prefer the thick tail.
    I’m happy it will be available to

    @Lars: never seen that theme, it looks pretty. =)
    Anyway, I think that the shapes are completely different for what is possible (they’re still arrows) and note that this is still some kind of a draft. ;-)

    The cursor theme looks great, I hope you keep all of the other colors along with the plain white one.

    Looks oki for me. I came across this theme on kde-look and find it very simple :

    It seems to be a GTK theme. I think it will fits very well with kde4 too.

    I prefer them rounder, like the comix cursors. They look more fresh and would fit better to the oxygen style. Rounded things (like cars, washbasins, ipods …) are sexy and sell, because they remind on the forms of a human body. I’ve made an illustration to show what I mean ;)

    @batiste

    Cursor themes are not toolkit specific.

    @ruphy

    I really like the new look :-)

    How about some shadow under them? And maybe make the black stuff on the sides of the text-selection cursor semi-transparent, so you’re only blocking one row of pixels? (same for the crosshair, maybe).

    Personally I prefer the ones that ship with Kubuntu, but that’s probably just because I’m used to them (I’m rather conservative when it comes to cursors;)

    Hm, I can access it (even though the picture violates their terms and conditions :P )
    I reuploaded it here:

    They are excellent!

    They are a good improvement overall, although the arrow still looks a little big and fat to me.
    I suppose they are all SVG so maybe the size should be just another option?
    (maybe add a transparency value as an option too?)

    That is way better. It actually looks good. But like many, I’d still like it thinner…

  18. Comment by Vanya — July 24, 2007 @ 2:13 am

    Definitely better, less cartoony.

    i like that, but i am very like the default of X cursor, that using black colour.

  20. Comment by MechR — July 25, 2007 @ 10:47 am

    Like the white color, and the thinner-tailed look :)

  21. Comment by Magnus Ahlberg — August 6, 2007 @ 2:18 am

    This white set looks great, I agree with “Nuno and Ken” the thinner tail is much better looking, but there’s no reason not to release both versions so that people can choose for themselves?

  22. Comment by Javier — October 20, 2007 @ 7:41 am

    I like the new one a lot better. I’m probably not gonna use it because I’m more of a minimalistic and slim cursor person, but it’s looking really good nonetheless.
